Introduction: Addiction is a psychological and sometimes physical condition that arises through the interaction of a living organism and addictive substances. Addictiveons, drugs are natural or synthetic substances with psychoactive effects that are abused for a sense of pleasure leading to repeated taking that gets put of control. The most common sample tested in toxicological analysis is urine. It is considered as a gold standard for drug testing due to good knowledge of drug metabolism and urinary excretion. Objective: The aim of final this project is to describe the methods of manipulating the urine sample for toxicological analysis, in order to determine their functionality and to establish a way of preventing misuse. Materials and methods: A urine sample is used for drug testing. There are various ways of manipulating the sample (diluting the urine, presenting other persons'urine , synthetic urine, adding diluents, using detoxifying agents). Each of these methods has been described, their functionality has been established. Conclusion: By comparing the sensitivity of the drug test strips, the most sensitive was the Intect 7 test strip. Test strips are a simple, fast and reliable detector of counterfeit urine. Key words: addiction, drugs, urine, urine manipulation, drug tests strips
