Scientifically, even today etiology and pathophysiology of preeclampsia hasn´t been exactly clarified. Preeclampsia is pregnancy complication which manifests through elevated blood pressure, proteinuria and sometimes edemas. It affect on completely organism and most important on fetus itself. Extremely important is early recognition and tretment of preeclampsia because inadequate treatment can cause further complications like appearance of convulsions and HELLP syndrome which is highly dangerous and even fatal for mother and the baby. Preeclampsia establishes based on several medical procedures which are measurement of body weight, measurement of blood pressure and third, but not less important, check proteins in urin. Based on the search we establish diagnosis and based on diagnosis we plan further treatment. That treatment may be medicamental treatment or even it can be a delivery. This paper present etiology, pathogenesis, symptomatology of preeclampsia. It´s important to educate patient and medical staff how to recognize preeclampsia and how important is prompt use of therapeutic methods/procedures.
