Breast cancer as a major public health problem requires, in addition to prevention where we can influence known risk factors, the search for the possibility of early detection of breast cancer in asymptomatic women. As a result, the treatment becomes more effective, less demanding and has a better prognosis. Considering that 10-15% of tumors cannot be detected by conventional mammography, the need for additional procedures is indicated to reduce the percentage of undetected tumors in the earliest stages. Tomosynthesis along with conventional mammography, ultrasound and clinical examination significantly contributes to the early detection of breast cancer. The more precise and better visualization made possible by tomosynthesis reduces the number of false negative findings (especially in women with denser glandular parenchyma), and the detected lesions are usually smaller. Likewise, in the case of minor abnormalities or suspicious findings on mammography, tomosynthesis can rule out or confirm a pathological finding, which reduces the number of false positive findings. IV The diploma thesis describes the diagnostic procedure of tomosynthesis, and through a sample of 40 women who were recommended and performed tomosynthesis after mammography, its importance in more precise diagnosis about false positive and false negative findings is shown.
