Abstract | Cilj: U ovom istraţivanju ispitivan je doprinos komponenti transformacijskog stila voĎenja i sociodemografskih karakteristika na komponente zadovoljstva poslom medicinskih sestara/tehničara.
Abstract (english) | Goal. The contribution of components of transformational leadership and sociodemographic characteristics to the job satisfaction in nurses was examined.
Methods: The study included 107 women and 5 men aged 21-63, all were nurses employed at SplitUniversity Hospital Centre. The following questionnaires were applied: Job Satisfaction Survey, Leadership Style Questionnaire and Socio-demographic data questionnaire.
Results: The findings indicate a moderate degree of satisfaction with the leadership style at the clinics (the mean of the mean value versus the maximum number of points is about 50%) and a moderate degree of job satisfaction (the mean value of the maximum score is about 60%) among nurses / technicians. Nurses who are more satisfied with the leadership style at their workplace also show a higher degree of job satisfaction (r = 0.59, P <0.001). Nurses do not differ in overall work satisfaction with regard to age (P> 0.05), years of service (P> 0.05), vocational qualification (P> 0.05), shift work (P> 0.05) and place of employment (P> 0.05). However, overall job satisfaction decreases with age (r = -0.26, P <0.05) and years of service (r = -0.25, P <0.05). Nurses in the younger age categories are more satisfied with the possibilities of advancement (p <0.05), their co-workers (p <0.05) and are more satisfied with communication at their workplace (p <0.05). On the basis of socio-demographic characteristics it is not possible to predict job satisfaction, but only on the basis of the component of the leadership style–articulation of vision(β = 0.63, p <0.05).
Conclusion: Nurses are in moderate degree satisfied with their job and leadership style. Job satisfaction is positively associated with leadership style, and decreases with age and years of work experience. Only one component of leadership style-articulation of vision predictsjob satisfaction in nurses. |
