Neurology is domain of medicine that deals with diseases of the nerve system. Central nerve system is made of brain and spinal cord while perifer system is made of nerves. Different diseases and conditions lead to changes within the parts of central and perifer nerv system making life of the patients difficult. Some of that diseases and conditions are cerebrovascular insult and spinal cord injuries. Brain and spinal cord are very important parts of our organisam and they take a huge role in its functioning. The patients who are affected with diseases and injuries of this organs are mainly hooked up to the bed and have limited motor skills. It causes many complications, for nurses the most important ones are decubitus and deep vein thrombosis. Decubitus is a disease that arises by longer pressure on particular parts of the body which leads to interruption of circulation and inflow of oxygen into it. At most risk are people with medical conditions that limits their ability to change positions. The consequence of that are skin and subcutaneous tissue damages. On the other side deep vein thrombosis is constipation caused by blood clot. Conditions that lead to vein thrombosis are: vein stasis, blood vessel endothelium damage and hypercoagulability. Both of these conditions can be seen at inactive patients in neurology department who are especially affected because their patology. The main tasks of nurses in the neurology department are making the plan and carring out the health care of the patients. Through the process of the health care nurses comprehensively and thoroughly solve problems encountered in the tretmant process. Using all their knowledge and skills nurses prevent possible complications by individual approach. Watching and working with patients she recognizes signs of decubitus and deep vain thrombosis and properly informs physicians about their appearance.
