Anesthesia raises a calm and painless condition in which patient is found during the surgery. What causes the biggest problem before and after surgery is the anxiety, by that we mean fear or worry of being put under the anesthesia. Proper communication between health care staff and the patient plays the most important role in preventing the problem. In the preoperational period, with communication child and parent can gain important information and thus reduce anxiety and stress. In addition to mental preparation, physical preparation for the procedure is also performed. In highly anxious children, the nurse suggests premedication with midazolam as way to relieve anxiety. Children and parents have concerns that the nurse can remove with different methods, such as an educational method through which parents learn more about the procedure and provide children with emotional relief through play. The method of shifting attention to other things in everyday life, acupressure or the method of breathing excercises are important factors in eliminating preoperational anxiety. Also, a method that consists of 6 exercises, contributing to reducing anxiety, or so called autogenic training that includes relaxing and concentrating on nice things.
