Abstract
Demografske promjene starosti stanovništva utječu i na pojavu kroničnih nezaraznih bolesti pa tako i demencije. Kako raste broj starijeg stanovništva, povećava se i broj oboljelih od demencije. Demencija je skup pojava (simptoma) uzrokovanih bolestima mozga koje umanjuju spoznajne sposobnosti. Najčešće su to gubitak pamćenja i orijentacije, promjene raspoloženja i ponašanja, poteškoće u zaključivanju, pisanju i govoru te zbunjenost i depresija. Danas demencija još uvijek predstavlja neizlječivu bolest koja prolazi kroz sedam stadija, pa tako oboljele osobe često nisu u mogućnosti komunicirati s okolinom, hraniti se i odijevati te nemogućnost obavljanja svakodnevnih aktivnosti zahtjeva 24-satnu njegu oboljelog. Najveći dio vremena uz pacijenta provodi medicinska sestra i tehničar koji pomažu oboljelom u provođenju aktivnosti svakodnevnog života kako bi se poboljšala kvaliteta života. Navedeno podrazumijeva provođenje osobne higijene, hranjenje kroz adekvatnu prehranu, oblačenje i drugo. Medicinske sestre i tehničari pružaju psihosocijalne, duhovne i psihičke aspekte zdravstvene skrbi pacijentu oboljelom od demencije. Ovakav oblik zdravstvene njege iziskuje puno razumijevanja i strpljenja kao i adekvatne vještine.
Abstract (english)
Demographic changes and aging of the population affected and the occurrence of chronic diseases including dementia.As the number of older people grows, the number of people with dementia increases. Dementia is a set of symptoms caused by brain diseases that diminish cognitive abilities. The most common ones are loss of memory and orientation, mood swings and behavior, difficulty in writing, writing and speech, and confusion and depression. Today, dementia is still an incurable disease that passes through seven stages, so that those who are ill often are not able to communicate with the environment, feed and dress, so the 24-hour care plan of the patient is mentioned. Most of the time spent with the patient is done by a nurse and a technician who helps the sufferer in carrying out activities on a daily basis to improve the quality of life. This implies the implementation of personal hygiene, feeding through adequate nutrition, dressing and the like. Nurses and technicians provide psychosocial, spiritual and psychological aspects of health care to patients with dementia who require a lot of understanding and patience where health care professionals must have adequate skills in treating dementia
