The aim of this final work is to present radiotherapy techniques which are indispensable part of lung cancer treatment. It is possible to apply primary, neoadjuvant, adjuvant and palliative radiotherapy depending on the degree of cancer spread, general state of the patient, accompanying diseases and type of lung cancer. With the progress of technology, diagnostic procedures which have improved sensitivity, it is possible to discover lung cancer at the earliest stages when the cure is aim of the treatment. Due to neglection of mostly unspecific symptoms like smoking cough. Lung cancer is unfortunately usually discovered in late stages. There is a large spectrum of different treatment modalities. Surgical treatment is indicated in early stages of the disease. Different radiotherapy methods like stereotactic ablative radiotherapy, 3D conformation radiation, intensity modulated radiotherapy and other advanced techniques, enable a good control of lung cancer. The combination of chemotherapy and radiation proved to be a very good method with a good outcome, sometimes long stabilization of the disease. Besides our efforts to extend the life of patients and improve their quality of life, the most important measure to really increase survival of our patients is the prevention of lung cancer. Smoking reduction is the most effective preventive measure.
