Abstract
Rad se temelji na pregledu literature na temu uloge balona koji otpuštaju lijekove, DEB (eng. Drug-Eluting Balloon) u liječenju periferne arterijske bolesti. Navedena su neka provedena istraživanja vezana za ovu temu. Bolest perifernih arterija, PAD (eng. Peripheral Artery Disease) je nedovoljno dijagnosticirana, kronična i progresivna bolest najčešće uzrokovana aterosklerozom. Kao rezultat ateroskleroze, PAD se manifestira kroničnom, nedovoljnom perfuzijom tkiva i ishemijom, potencijalno kompliciranim trombotičkim ili embolijskim događajima. Kod intervencija perifernih arterija veliku ulogu zauzimaju baloni obloženi lijekom te imaju široku primjenu zbog sprječavanja revaskularizacije, nastanka tromba i alergijske reakcije uzrokovane stentom.
Abstract (english)
The paper is based on a review of the literature on the role of drug-releasing balloons (DEB) in the treatment of peripheral arterial disease. Some conducted research related to this topic is listed. Peripheral artery disease is an underdiagnosed, chronic and progressive disease most commonly caused by atherosclerosis. As a result of atherosclerosis, PAD is manifested by chronic, insufficient tissue perfusion and ischemia, potentially complicated by thrombotic or embolic events. Drug-coated balloons play an important role in peripheral artery interventions and are widely used to prevent revascularization, thrombus formation, and stent-induced allergic reactions.
